My birthday is in five weeks and I figured I'd get a head start on compiling a list of things that I quite adore but cannot afford.

And various classics I saw on display that were quite inexpensive, but I cannot exactly remember what they were.

Quick, a three-day recap!

Day 1: 40 minutes late to first class after trying to find parking for over an hour. Eventually went to Cain's and just had him drop me off. Totally lame.
Went with Dylan to his car while he smoked some hash, I provided some good music, and ate his jellybeans. College, man.
Met up with Nicky D and we discussed plans for this weekend. He wanted a new piece so I went with him and helped him pick it out. Talked him into a kick ass elephant. He wanted to give it a go so I went to the river with him but he forgot his lighter so we called it a day.

Day 2: Got to school early and walked around awkwardly because I am awkward. It was cold, I was miserable. Drove Dylan around and picked him up. Because I'm nice. We hung out afterward. Not bad.
Then I took a nap.

Day 3: Got to school early, it was hot as balls, seems I will never find a happy medium.
Walked all the way out to Dylan's car so he could smoke but he realized he didn't have his pipe. Walked back, and it was hot as balls. A pointless trip. College, man.
Art History teacher is annoying as hell and won't turn on any lights. As a result, I set my backpack down in some spilled coffee and didn't even realize it until it was time to go. It's also hard to get comfortable for a nap in that class.
Went home and took an epic nap.

And that is college thus far. Feels kind of like high school, but there's a lot of pot and a good number of cigarettes.

I just want it to be Saturday. Outside Lands, here I come.

Time for bed. I'm too tired to function.

So today was Jessica's last day in Sacramento. She leaves for Berkeley tomorrow morning and I'm quite sad D: D: D:

She gave me her old webcam so we can video chat, which sounds quite fun.

Also, learned some disturbing information about this one kid that goes to my school. Man, if ever there were a time for brain bleach...

Currently taking a trip down memory lane and watching the musical numbers from a Goofy Movie. Right now, I'm pretty facinated with "After Today."

And, jeeze, this turned into a laugh riot really fast because it's available in a wide variety of foreign languages. Like:

Norwegian!

Danish!

Swedish!

Finnish!

Japanese!

I really can't stop laughing. This song is just so hilarious in foreign language.

Great great great movie because:

1) Joseph Gordon-Levitt
2) Amazing actors
3) Amazing characters, relationships, development
4) Amazing story
5) Aliens!?!

My jaw is still on the floor from how great of a movie this was. Wow. :O

I highly recommend this move because:

1) Joseph Gordon-Levitt
2) Corruption of the innocent
3) A wager that only ends in true love
4) Emotional roller coaster

The only downside I can see to this movie is Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a homophobic Mormon. Still, he's cute.

New Music Releases: Reviews and Recommendations

E-603 does another excellent job of seamlessly blending rock, dance, and rap into an hour long album that's great for dancing or for playing loudly in the car and feeling totally badass. Rap isn't your thing? It's normally not my favorite, but once I hear Ludacris's "Move Bitch" and Beyonce's "Ring the Alarm" against 8-bit beats, I can't help but fall in love. He does a really great job of representing different genres. You'll hear some Lil'Mama over Ratatat's "Mirando" or maybe you'll pick out that familiar riff from "Sweet Home Alabama" or the piano from Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles."
The best part is, you can download the entire album for free. Free. (You should also download Something for Everyone! So, if you don't like it, you didn't waste any money. You have nothing to lose!
And, if you do happen to enjoy it, check out Girl Talk (E-603's mainstream counterpart) and Ludachrist, another underground mash-up band that has free downloads available.

There's a lot to be said for musicians who can take a large number of unrelated bands and combine their work into something natural, compatible, and good.

Why hello there, LiveJournal. How about some updates?

1) On the fourth I graduated! It was quite the exciting day and I didn't trip walking across the stage, thank goodness. I did, however, awkward it up a bit as I had to walk by the counselors, because one of them was all, "Let's hug" and I was like, "Handshake?" and it was one of those awkward what-are-we-doing shuffles. Awesome!

2) Grad Night happened on the fourth as well! It was at Strikes Bowling Alley, and there was amazing free food, unlimited arcade games, rock climbing, laser tag, a hypnotist, and much more! Jess and Spencer got hypnotized, and Spencer was the most hilarious thing ever. Also, Cain thought it was bullshit so he went up on stage, pretended to be hypnotized, and dicked around and did inappropriate things when the hypnotist wasn't looking. Good times!

3) Last night I went to see The Secretions and Flip the Switch! Not a big crowd because it was at Club Retro, but I had a good time moshing (even though I lost my shoes and my glasses were knocked off my face D: ) and skanking is so much fun. I bet I looked like this:

Also, I think I will be in the Secretions' music video a bit, so neat!

4) Applied for a job! Hopefully I get an interview. And a job.

A good enough start to a hopefully awesome summer.

Okay. I'm getting ready for the Watchmen premiere which mainly consists of drinking coffee.

I've been told twice today to shut up about Watchmen, but whatever. I rarely get excited for things so I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Anyway. I think I'm getting more coffee on the way to Watchmen and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to sleep tonight.

Also, I got paid eight dollars today for sitting in the library with Robert because I'm hired as his tutor, but he doesn't want to actually do any book learnin' so we just surfed the internet. He has this neat idea for an under 18 club. At first I thought it was really stupid, but a lot of kids lookin' to party seem interested, which means Robert might actually make a lot of money. Which means that if I decide to work the snack bar, I will get paid.

Long story short, I got paid for doing nothing and Watchmen is tonight and I love coffee. Yayy.

I would like to take a moment and mention how much I really love Dan Dreiberg, a.k.a. Nite Owl.

First, I completely adore the fact that he named his owlship Archie after Merlin's owl.

And he's like the Batman of ornithology. He loves owls and instead of immense physical prowess and force, he relies more on technology and gadgets.

Like "Watchmen and Philosophy: A Rorschach Test" pointed out in the chapter "The Virtue of Nite Owl's Potbelly," Dan is one of the most sensible/virtuous characters. He doesn't have any major issues and has a more objective outlook on justice (unlike his BFF Rorschach who follows the creed of 'an eye for an eye') except for when Hollis Mason is murdered and he becomes so enraged that Rorschach has to intervene a bit.

Also, his snowsuit is most adorable:

He's not my favorite character, and while Nite Owl isn't nearly as badass as Rorschach or as interesting as Dr. Manhattan, I really enjoy him a lot.

I love laser tag really much. Someday, when I'm a moneybags, I'm going to have a laser tag arena in my mansion.

On another note, I'm getting really excited for the Watchmen movie. I plan on seeing it at midnight, then going again for the Imax experience (though I could kill two birds with one stone if I just went to Imax at midnight).
The point is, I'm psyched and all I do anymore is talk about Watchmen.

Oh, and before I forget, I'm complaining about Hannah because I got stuck writing the story that was originally assigned to her and I'm pissed. Especially because Mahoney got mad at me about it when it wasn't even my responsibility to begin with. Bullshit.

Okay. Now I'm done.

Right now I'm busy trying to clear space on my shelves, and I'm amazed at the things that I hang on to. Each phase of my life is given its own shelf space: there's me at eight and every trophy I've received and picture I've taken for sports; fourth through seventh grade, I used to be really into wolves and horses.

I still have the tickets to the baseball games my dad and I went to, as well as the tickets to memorable concerts.

I have almost everything I made in ceramics sophomore year, a rainbow lei from rush week a couple of years ago, my candle from the Prop 8 protest, a fake flower given to me at Club Retro, old birthday cards, and leftover Halloween decorations.

Whenever I look at my things, I remember Steevee saying, "You have such a teenager room."

Seriously. My room is a veritable scrapbook.

Right now I'm working on Newspaper to meet the deadline (9:00 a.m.) and it seems as if the odds are against us.

We're actually relatively far along compared to where we normally are at this point. Unfortunately, Mr. Mahoney is unable to stay after school so we lose our epic work marathon that lasts all night and generally gives me a good idea as to how long it will take to finish.

So I'm working from home from a computer I borrowed from Mahoney. This is the second time I've borrowed one of his computers. Last night, the Mac that I borrowed didn't have InDesign which made my evening almost completely unproductive. This time, I don't have Photoshop, making my evening almost as unproductive as last night.

It sucks how there's always some major setback in the home stretch. Normally InDesign crashes, we don't have some stories, or some section editor used the wrong dimensions for the page. This time, I'm working solo and without the fundamental tools I need to actually do anything.

The gods of Newspaper must hate me.
